2120: Missing link for Mumbai-Pune Expressway

About the Project

Project Brief:
Tech TANGENT Solutions Pvt Ltd has secured a prestigious job of contract value Rs. 1497 Cr. from esteemed client AFCONS Infrastructure Ltd. MSRDC is the owner of the project. The Missing Link will connect Khalapur at Mumbai end through viaduct and tunnel to Kusgaon at Pune end of the expressway reducing distance of about 6km and travel time around 25 minutes.
Scope of work:
The Project consists of following
  • Widening of existing Expressway from three lane to four lane from km 32+600 to km 38+660 = 6.06 km
  • New Viaduct with overall widthof 23.25m on missing link portion from Chainages – 0+350 to 1+100 = 1.45km.
Viaduct consists of PSC I-Girder three and four span continuous modules consists of Pretensioned girders. Full depth precast panels are used as decks lab and stitched both longitudinally and transversely.
Substructure consists of Hollow RCC tapered tall pier of heights about 65m supported on open foundation.
  • Tunnel of 380m length and 13.25m wide constructed with cut and cover method consists of RCC closed box on new alignment of RHS slip road. Top slab consists of Precast panels stitched together with cast-in-situ concrete. New Missing link is crossing above the tunnel portion.
  • Slip road of 13.25m overall width
  • Left – 20+000 to 20+850 = 0.85km
  • Right – 10+000 to 11+200 = 1.6km

Slip road consist of RE wall approaches and two Major bridges.
  • Widening of existing Major bridges, Minor bridges, VUP, PUPs, Box Culverts, Pipe culverts and Retaining wall,
  • Development of New toll plaza atShedung. Widening and development of Toll Plaza at Khalapur Exit.
  • Development of approach roads
  • Tuksai Village to Casting Yard = 8.1km
  • Casting Yard to Cable Stayed bridge = 2.1km
  • New Viaduct with overall width of 24.95m connecting Cable stayed bridge to Tunnel on Mumbai and Pune End of Missing Link portion. (Chainages –2+692 to 2+790 and 3+440 to 3+538)
Viaduct consists of PSC I-Girder four and five span continuous modules consists of Post-tensioned girders. Full depth precast panels are used as decks lab and stitched both longitudinally and transversely.
Substructure consists of Hollow RCC tapered tall pier of heights about 54m supported on open foundation.

Job Status: Design is completed and Approved. Construction is in progress.
